update to new google font data fails.(how to get the Google Font API Key)

HI,
I am following the instruction to set my website with Air theme. I got an error(failed, try again please.) when I hit the button for “update to new google font data”. I went to https://console.developers.google.com/apis and created a api key and copied and enter it but it did not work. I am not sure whether I am doing correctly.
I might not create the API key correctly but I am not sure what to double check. can you help?

Hi,
Thank you for purchasing our theme.

• Please visit the URL to get a GG key again:
  https://developers.google.com/fonts/docs/developer_api?apix_params=%7B%22sort%22%3A%22alpha%22%7D#APIKey

  Click “Get a Key” (blue button), to get the new Key

• After geting the Key, please add the Key following:

  1. Visit your wordporess wp-admin;
  2. Enter the new key to theme options(Apperance>theme options>fonts setting), click “Save options”;
  3. After theme options page refresh, click “Update to new Google Font Data”, the page would be forzen severl seconds. The Google fonts name should be shown in the fonts selectors.
