Hidden Category / Choosing which items show in slider

Hello, for my homepage, i have used the Content Slider showing All Categories. I would ideally like to select which items are shown in this slider but they will be across a few different categories.

Is it possible to either:
1. Select which items from ‘All Categories’ to show?
2. Create a new category title “Home Slider” where i hand select these items but make this category NOT show anywhere else on the site (i.e in the Work > Filter above Gallery)

1. Isn’t possible
2. Yes, you should create a new category for “Home Slider”, you should have a category for portfolio like “work” also.
You can hide category name also: Appearance > Theme Options > Layout: Category to Hide on Page/Post
