Using the Excerpt instead of listing categories on BM Slider ?

I’d love to use the excerpt from a post instead of listing the categories on a BM Slider page – This way i can craft a more tailored tagline for each slide image.
I can’t find where to edit the BMSlider though – Can you point me in the right direction again:)

I assume i can just switch out a get category call to a get excerpt call – But your coding is above my skill level. I’ve looked in the plugin files & the functions files, but i can;t find the right part.

Any tips to achieve this?
