I am having trouble figuring out how to make posts appear on the homepage with the sub menu.

I can get portfolio pages to appear on the homepage linked to the menu but not posts. Can you please give me some advice?

Hi,
Welcome to SeaTheme forum.

If you want to create a list that displays thumbnails of Posts, you can try using the Grid module from BM Content Builder. This tutorial will be helpful to you.

If you want to display the Posts in a submenu, please refer to this guide on how to set up menus. This tutorial(click to learn how to build menu and submenu) will be helpful to you.
