– I don’t know what’s version theme/BM content builder.
Please set font in “BM font management” in latest version(v2.x.x)
Please set font in Appearance > Theme Options > Font settings in old version(v1.x.x)

– I don’t understand this question, what’s white overlay? If you talked the mouseover, It is possible by custom css(“Appearance > Customize : Additional CSS”), like:

    color: #333;
}
